“Film is light, light is an impermanent medium, and all lights go out.”- Caetlin Benson-Allott
This work investigates the relationship between film material and light. Through a screen built from archival 16mm film, a single pulsating light searches for itself. The ghostly shadows of the archival film strips are casted on the blank wall. A film projector sits across from the digital projector as its mirrored image in the past. The clear film leader runs incessantly, but all that the viewer can see is a white rectangle filled with light, flickering ever so slightly.
