“Closer” activates a warehouse turned studio building awaiting demolition. The video documents my daily commute between my home and the studio in the predominantly immigrant neighborhood of Pilsen. Responding to the site’s history as a former Ford assembly plant, I used a Ford Escape sideview mirror, a mundane yet poetic object which we use to look back while moving forward.
