In an Alexander Kluge film The Patriot, a high school teacher takes an interest in the rubble of historical Berlin; through a loose assemblage of photographs, drawings, poems and maps, Kluge’s protagonist renegotiates the linear conception of past and present. HERE IS  A PUDDLE makes a similar intervention in one’s personal history, specifically from a standpoint of trauma studies. Notions of memory, self-representation, identity, and love are investigated in the forms of video interviews and journal entries. When do the marks on the body become visible to us, and to others? Incorporating various theatrical elements such as projection and scene design, this multimedia project creates a liminal space for the viewer to wander and reflect.
